Python + Java Integration

Chas Emerick   27 Aug 2006 07:18 GMTPage rating:

Do you like to work in Python, but you need to use some of those really
useful Java libraries that are out there?  There is a very simple,
robust solution to this called JPype.

JPype is a python module that enables you to use any Java library.  I
blogged about how we used (and later sponsored) JPype, and how it's
good enough that we now ship and support PDFTextStream (our previously
Java-only PDF text extraction library) for Python.

The blog post (watch out for the URL wrapping in your reader):
http://blog.snowtide.com/2006/08/21/working-together-pythonjava-open-sourcecommercial

PDFTextStream.Python (which also gives some overview of how JPype
works): http://snowtide.com/PDFTextStream.Python

JPype's website: http://jpype.sourceforge.net

I'm glad to answer any questions anyone might have regarding JPype,
PDFTextStream.Python, or any other related issues.

Cheers,
