*Free High-Fidelity Windows and Multi-Platform Appearance*
I've released version 2.0.3 of the free JGoodies Looks.
It fixes a regression, comes with improved support for
the Windows Vista Beta2, and ships the Plastic themes
"Experience Royale" for XP's Royale style, and "Light Gray"
for Vista's Aero style. The contained Windows L&f
and Plastic L&fs supercede all previous versions w.r.t.
consistency, design precision, and support for Java 5,
Java 6 and Windows Vista.
Version 2.0.3 works around a bug in the Mustang b87 on
the Windows Vista Beta2 that may lead to an NPE in Plastic.
This bug (6436509) shall be fixed in Mustang b91.
The Looks make your Swing apps and applets look better.
The package consists of a precise Windows Look&Feel and the
elegant Plastic Look&Feel family. These have been optimized
for readability, precise micro-design and usability.
The JGoodies Looks library is licensed under the terms of
the BSD open source license and is available at no charge.
The 2.0.x versions are binary and visually incompatible
with the Looks 1.x; however most changes are simplifications
and the visual changes improve the consistency of your apps.
See the RELEASE-NOTES.txt for detailed information about
changes that affect the binary and visual compatibility,
and how to get an appearance compatible with version 1.x.
*Support is available only in the user mailing list*
users@looks.dev.java.net. See the FAQ where to get support
and how to report a problem.
The JGoodies Looks have been financed by customers
of the JGoodies Swing Suite and by the Sun desktop crew.
It is only with their money that I can provide, maintain,
and improve this library at no charge. If you save time
and money using the Looks, please help me finance my Java
desktop activities by licensing the commercial Swing Suite.
I hope the JGoodies Looks package improves the readability,
consistency and elegance of your multi-platform screen design.
Best regards,
Karsten Lentzsch
