Dover 0.7 - Database objects over RMI

Michael Justin   20 Dec 2004 23:24 GMTPage rating:

Dover (Database objects over RMI) is a set of JavaBeans(tm) which allows
to create three tier client/server applications based on RMI and
Borland(tm) DataExpress(tm) (included in JBuilderX(tm) Foundation and
higher), they are a fast and easy way to create rich database clients
which work over the Internet.

At design time, the "Customize..." dialog for the client-side
ClientDataTable bean allows to open a connection to the server and
select from a list of available server-side DataProvider beans. Another
design-time customizer for the DbConnection bean has been added in this
release, which displays all available RMI servers on the remote host.

Included JavaBeans
* DbConnection: provides methods to connect and communicate with the
middle-tier application
* ClientDataTable: a client-side bean, based on TableDataSet, which
talks to the DataProvider bean.
* DataProvider: a server-side bean which is the communication partner
for the ClientDataTable bean

Full source code included, GPL and commercial licenses available.

The demo application uses an embedded HSQLDB database and shows data
browsing including master-detail relations (using parametrized queries),
dynamic queries. JBuilderX Foundation and Apache Log4J 1.2.8 are
required to run the demo.

Greetings,
Michael Justin
