The JAva ManagEd Content System (Jamecs)

Ross Bamford   26 Apr 2005 17:28 GMTPage rating:

Hi all,

I'd just like to take a moment of your time to introduce the Java
Managed Content System, or Jamecs. Jamecs is a comprehensive, flexible,
powerful Object-Oriented Web Framework / Content Management System for
the J2EE Servlets environment, available now as Open Source (Apache
License) from http://jamecs.sourceforge.net/ .

Jamecs is a young project (still in the feature stage) but already
provides a powerful, easy to use object-based framework with many
advanced features:

+ Hierarchical object-based framework, complete with standard class
   hierarchy providing general functionality.

+ Transparent, highly flexible object persistence API based on JDBC.

+ Integration with Apache Velocity from the core outward allows VTL
code to be used throughout the system, while providing a stable
   standard environment for that code.

+ Rich, well documented API facilitates fast development of specific
object classes, while rich base API allow advanced functionality to
   be easily supported.

We are currently in the process of developing the interface and
standard objects, and are especially keen to receive feedback from
developers and users, about not only what is already done but also what
remains to be done. Jamecs aims to be an easy-to-use system with a
user-led design, so let us know what you think!

Jamecs is developed as Open Source, and released under the Apache
Software License, 2.0. You can download, or find out more about Jamecs
at http://jamecs.sourceforge.net/ . More about Velocity can be found
from http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity .

Thanks for your time,
Ross Bamford
Jamecs Architect & Lead developer
