[ANN] Java GUI Testtool qftestJUI - Version 1.06 Released

Gregor Schmid   31 May 2004 21:19 GMTPage rating:

Quality First Software (QFS) is pleased to announce the release of
version 1.06 of our Java GUI Testtool qftestJUI.

Release 1.06 is a medium upgrade with many new and important features:

Image-Checks permit verification of images with pixel-level precision
for automated testing of the graphical representation of GUI elements.
This feature is significant for graphics that are generated during
run-time (for example, running stock charts and tickers) or for
buttons with context-dependent icons.

Time-Constraints permit the inspection of the response-time behavior
of an application. With it, performance problems can be identified
early in the software development cycle.

Additional features in qftestJUI 1.06 include the integration of
individual jar files as plugins, the ability to use external editors
for use in script-writing, an improved and expanded tutorial, a test
library with useful procedures, and a new means of easily documenting
a test-suite similar to JavaDoc.

An evaluation version is freely available for download at

where you'll also find a link to the latest release notes.

What is qftestJUI?
==================

Based on capture/replay, but extending far beyond, qftestJUI manages
the creation and execution of automated tests for Java/Swing
applications with a graphical user interface. It runs on Windows and
all major Unix systems with JDKs from 1.1.8 to 1.5

The key feature of qftestJUI is an exceptionally high test
reusability, minimizing the effort necessary for regression testing.
Intuitive graphical design of tests reduces the cost of introducing
qftestJUI into the QA process. Additionally, qftestJUI sports a set of
features for the advanced user such as variables, procedures and
scripting. Extensive documentation, including a tutorial, is available
for users approaching the product with different background and skill
levels.
