Mid-market Leading E-commerce Software Vendor Releases MerchantSpace
Commerce 2.9

VANCOUVER, BC, Canada, April 22, 2004 -- Ekkon Technologies, the
developers of MerchantSpace Commerce, today announced an optimized
version of its mid-market leading Java e-commerce software has been
released.

Building on the overwhelming global adoption of MerchantSpace Commerce
2.8, version 2.9 further solidifies its position as the leading
mid-market e-commerce solution for the J2EE platform.

"We are extremely excited about this release," said Harry Chemko, CEO,
Ekkon Technologies. "We set out to prove that MerchantSpace could look
as professional and perform as effectively and efficiently as
enterprise ecommerce solutions costing over ten times as much. Based
on customer feedback so far, I think we have done that."

Some notable changes found within version 2.9 of the Java based
e-commerce framework are: cross-selling - the ability to recommend
related products to those currently being viewed or purchased;
inventory management - the ability to manage current stock levels,
reserve stock quantities, set stock re-order levels, and deliver out
of stock notifications; performance enhancements - optimized database
queries; reduced complexity - custom category and product attributes
can now be added with a single line of code; and an enhanced default
framework store.

The biggest change in version 2.9 is the notable usability
enhancements in the out-of-the-box e-commerce store. The default store
demonstrates the professionalism that can be achieved with
MerchantSpace Commerce.

"We recognize that many customers do not have the time or resources to
invest in usability analysis. We feel it is our responsibility to give
MerchantSpace Commerce customers as much of an advantage as possible,"
said Dave Koo, VP Product Development, Ekkon Technologies. "Even
though MerchantSpace Commerce ships with full access to the Java
e-commerce source code, we took considerable steps in improving the
default storefront and shopping cart workflow that ships with the
product."

By focusing on making version 2.9 a superior end-user experience,
customers deploying MerchantSpace Commerce will immediately reap the
benefits.
