Kandid, a genetic art project
Kandid is a program to evolve graphic. Graphics, in Kandid, is not drawn
by hand or mouse. Instead new forms can be found using genetic
algorithms. To achieve this aim Kandid simulates evolution using sexual
reproduction and populations. But there is no fitness function in side
the program. Only the user can decide which images are interesting.
To simulate evolution Kandid uses crossing over and mutation. Image
calculation is based on fractal calculations and Voroni diagrams.
You can exchange the chromosomes of your favourite images with other
Kandid users. The chromosomes can be transported as a mail attachment.
To become a breeder and receive chromosomes form other users you must
publish your mail address in the Kandid breeder list.
Populations can be stored in XML format. Images can be exported in PNG
format.
