The Apache HTTPD Webserver development team has released version 2.0.54. "This release is compatible with modules compiled for 2.0.42 and later versions. We consider this release to be the best version of Apache available and encourage users of all prior versions to upgrade." It is mostly a bug fix release.

Sun Microsystems has recently announced a 5 percent discount on exams purchased through the company's Web site. The offer is valid in the United States and Canada for Sun training ecommerce purchases made online between April 1, 2005 and June 30, 2005 only.

Cenqua has announced version 1.3.6 of their Java unit test tool Clover. "Clover 1.3.6 includes bugfixes and minor improvements. Note that the output of the ConsoleReporter and Ant task has changed slightly. This may cause minor problems if the output is being parsed."

IBM's alphaWorks has announced the initial release of CXDE (Compound XML Document Editor). They write in, "[CXDE] from IBM’s software group uses Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) to provide a more customized editing experience for developers. CXDE offers a standards-based, model-driven editor for mixed-namespace XML documents such as: XHTML, XForms, XML-Events, SMIL, SVG, VoiceXML, XUL, and MathML."

Platespiller has announced version 1.0.3 of JFC toolkit Park. They write in, "Park makes you a more efficient JFC user interface programmer by providing a rapid application development toolkit and an XML transformer backend which enables you to write XML format importers in XSLT for the XML Schema based Bean Persistence XMLDecoder. The Zeus Java Swing Compenents library project has announced the release of version 1.08 with major feature enhancements. "The position for 'autopositioned' frames is now reset to 0,0 within the desktop if it is the first frame placed in the desktop. In JConsole, the configuration process for the console was redesigned with simple getXXX() and setXXX() methods. The autosave and dump of messages to log files was also redesigned. A StringBuffer was created for storing all messages ever printed, and a property file for GUI strings was added. A modified swingworker was included along with the swingworker v3 class provided by Sun's tutorial."

The ObjectWeb Consortium has has released version 2.0.0 of RMI library Carol. " This version is used by JOnAS 4.4 which is a J2EETM compliant application server. There was a lot of code refactoring in this version and a lot of cleanup. Monolog which was used for logging has been replaced by Jakarta commons logging. There is a new Wrapper for JacORB which is used for RMI-IIOP protocol which support CSIv2. Also, commons-cli is not used anymore. Many new tests have been developed to avoid new errors.
