Nicola Asuni has released version 1.1.004, initial release, of TMXResourceBundle - an extension of Java ResourceBundle class to read text resources directly from a TMX file. Nicola writes in, "TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) is the vendor-neutral open XML standard for the exchange of Translation Memory data created by Computer Aided Translation (CAT) and localization tools. The purpose of TMX is to allow easier exchange of translation memory data between tools and/or translation vendors with little or no loss of critical data during the process."

xVRML Viewer Milestones - New Spec. & Viewer   01 Apr 2005 05:00 GMT
The xVRML virtual reality project has released build 0.32.08.04 beta of the xVRML spec files and build 2005-03-29 of the Carina viewer application. They write in, "Carina now supports images as textures, greatly increasing the possibilities for content creators. This includes texture transformations. Exporting a displayed xwrl to local disk includes textures, with auto-renaming as needed to deal with conflicts."

Sun Microsystems has announced support for the Jabber instant messaging protocol, XMPP, in the latest version of its Sun Java Instant Messaging System. "Sun is supporting the eXtensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), the first protocol to be approved by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as an Internet standard for instant messaging and presence technologies. In addition, Sun Java System Instant Messaging includes new privacy controls, significant improvements in usability and new partnerships to enhance the offering."

Java FTP server application JAFS has released version 0.9.8 with major feature enhancements. "PKCS11 keystore support has been added. All MBeans operations and attributes are now available in the JMX documentation. Network interfaces complete refactoring, multiple network interfaces can be configured, Added an MBean to manage the network interfaces, Adding https support for the SOAP JMX adapter. Improved scheduler external tasks. Multiple dynamic IP host name service providers clients per network interface. An interface to plug your own DynDNS updater client. An interface to plug its own NAT portmapper drivers. The ability to manage multiple UPNP devices has been added."

Daffodil Software has announced the release of version 4.1 of its Java database Daffodil DB. "The most significant advancement made in this version is the performance boost-up with Compiere, an advanced level Open Source ERP + CRM solution. Daffodil DB v4.1 is an effort to address customer demand for increased database performance and improved usability in database critical applications."

Newly reinvigorated project Smallx, an XML infoset and pipelining technology, has refactored their project and released the source code. They write in, "This release contains the pipeline compiler, implementation, and APIs as well as servlets for running the pipelines inside the web applications. The pipeline technology allows streaming of XML infosets for processing large documents or building web services. Several examples are packaged with the release."

Keith Donald and Erwin Vervaet of the Spring Framework project have announced the initial release of Spring Web Flow. "Spring Web Flow is a core module of the Spring Framework that is a strong fit for web applications with demanding page flow requirements. The system lets you capture a logical page flow as a self-contained module that can be reused in different situations in a consistent fashion. The system is ideal for web applications that execute business processes over a series of steps spanning HTTP requests, and those demanding wizards, dynamic flows, and/or flows whose executions need to be audited or annotated. The system exists at a higher-level of abstraction, building on base Model 2 frameworks like Struts and Spring MVC, capturing your application's page flow explicity in a declarative fashion."

Java based port of OpenOffice for Mac OS X, NeoOffice/J, has released a version 1.1 Release Candidate. "This version incorporates the OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 codebase and now supports all features present in that version of OpenOffice.org. This release also adds support for Eudora and Entourage as external mailers."
