repainting on mousepressed31 Jan 2006 19:26 GMT1
I set up a class that extends JFrame and implements MouseListener.  The
class displays  a graph, and when the graph is clicked with the mouse
it zooms into the spot that was clicked.    The problem is that the
method I call to zoom can have multiple frames, but when calling the

Drawing number tables31 Jan 2006 00:52 GMT4
I need to draw a table which will be full of numbers. I also need to draw
lines over the numbers (for example, draw a horizontal line from the first
column to the last one, over all the numbers of the first row, etc).
You can see an example of what I want here:
rude Mouse cursor30 Jan 2006 21:59 GMT4
The mouse cursor is a bit like a guest that refuses to leave the
party.
You use it to find a spot on the page, then you want  to start typing,
and you pay attention to the caret cursor. The mouse cursor at this
FocusTraversalPolicy30 Jan 2006 20:06 GMT4
Has anyone written a decent one?
I had an app that worked fine in 1.3, in 1.4 the focussing is a disaster.
I have JDesktop panes, JIternalPanes and JTabbed panes containing JTables,
JComboBoxes, JTextFields etc.
swing speed30 Jan 2006 17:47 GMT4
I've started building a small swing app in Netbeans 5.0 using the matisse GUI
builder and I've noticed it's a bit sluggish, no matter where I run it: linux,
windows, AMD, Intel. Anyone have any clue as to why the Netbeans GUI (also
swing) is so much more responsive then my (dummy ...
UIDefaults.getUI() failed for JInternalFrame$JDesktopIcon30 Jan 2006 15:03 GMT7
I am using a particular Look and Feel, and a class derived from
JInternalFrame. Whenever the JInternalFrame class is invoked, it generated
an exception (please see stack trace at the bottom of this message).
I know that to correct this exception, I must do something along the lines
Animation not shown; suspect getGraphics() failing30 Jan 2006 09:32 GMT6
Hey all,
Seems to be same old subject? Maybe, maybe not, but I wonder if anyone
has seen this occur or can suggest any paths I can take to fix the
problem detailed here.
TextField Increment/Decrement Buttons30 Jan 2006 02:00 GMT7
I cannot find the javax.swing component that does the following. A fairly
common control on the right side of a TextField, consisting of two small
arrows, one up and one down, that lets you increment or decrement the value
in the TextField by clicking on one of them. I know they ...
adding new textfield after window already drawn29 Jan 2006 09:55 GMT5
I have a JDIalog window that is created when a user double clicks on an
entry in a JList.  The list contains LDAP objects and the attributes and
attribute values for the object are shown in the JDialog.  Since the #
of attribs/vals varies I dynamically build the textfields to ...

I have a Java Swing app written in JDK1.3.1 with runs under X windows
using the Ratpoison window manager.  But when I tried running the same
app using JRE1.5.0 under Ratpoison, the text and all the
components/widget are missing (only the Frame shows).

automatic color in JTextPane28 Jan 2006 14:40 GMT2
Hello big brains.  I'm interested in your advice.  I'm solving a
problem in my own particular way and I was wondering if you could tell
me if it makes sense?  Perhaps there's an easier way or maybe even a
mechanism already built into swing that I'm unaware of.  Dunno.
JComboBox with a large data set28 Jan 2006 02:35 GMT4
I'm having a bit of a problem with a JComboBox. I've subclassed it so
that users can enter a string into the combobox and only entries that
contain that string are shown. However, the list has gotten large, over
35,000. At this point, if the user presses the down cursor (VK_DOWN),
