newbie: setup of Runtime Environment

Hi,
I have installed Runtime Environment, Version 6 in directory
/usr/java/jre1.6.0_02. I don't know what else I should do. Define some
shell variables?...
Could you help me please?

You should set these system variables:

CLASSPATH = .;javapath

PATH = ........;javapath/jre1.6.0_02/bin

JAVA_HOME = javapath/jre1.6.0_02

(javapath: ......./usr/java/)

I don't know if this answers your question, but here it goes:

Set your JAVA_HOME variable with "export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jre1.6.0_02"

Create symlinks with "ln -sf /usr/java/jre1.6.0_02/bin/java /usr/bin/java"
