Why no JRE for the Mac Os?

Thread view:
Peter Christensen - 22 Feb 2007 19:30 GMT
I just wonder, because I'm working on a program in Java. I can make it
available for both Windows, Linux and Solaris, because here the JRE's are
available. But I can not offer my program for the Mac, because here there
are no JRE .

Why did/does Sun not make a JRE for the Mac Os?

Rgds,
Pete C

Ok, but why not on java.sun.com? -Probably Apple made it themselves, or
what?
It's not here http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp at least.

Try 'Man-Drive 007' (DVD) for only 5?, it's really cool

(It's probably better than Miso Vista and the Mac'os)

If Apple made it, then it means they have a license to make such a JRE
(Microsoft used to once, but they broke the license agreement),
if however the one provided by Apple is the one made by Sun, then
there's even less reason for Sun to have it on their website, as it is
included as part of the Mac Operating System.
That is the whole Sun JDK...
It does say it's the HotSpot VM, meaning it's Sun's VM.
It's included as part of the operating system, and will update
automatically as part of the OS as Sun releases updates.
Thus there is no need for an external installer.
