Any body know which JDK 1.4 VMs support Java Debug Wire Protocol and the
ability to replace bytecodes using the Eclipse debugger?

A version of IBM 1.3.1 does. I assume it is used in:

S_TACT=103BGW01&S_CMP=campaign

search the above webpage for "hot".

So you could DL a trial version and play with the JRE.
