How to reset the Netbeans GUI

Thread view:
John Muir - 29 May 2004 08:24 GMT
Is there a simple way to reset the Netbeans GUI window arrangement back
to the initial configuration?

It is so easy to move or delete a window and I find it somehow (I'm an
idiot?) difficult to arrange them back to the initial configuration again.

(Sorry to mention it to Netbeans fans, but Eclipse has a lovely 'Reset
Perspective' menu option.)

Confusing, isn't it.  All I can suggest is to click on "Window" (menu
bar).  You'll be able then to re-open windows that you've accidentally
closed.

Use the Help - About menu to find the userdirectory.  Exit the Netbeans
interface, delete from the user directory.  Restart Netbeans.

Better is to use 'runide.exe -userdir c:\mynewuserdir'.

I too wan't to reset netBeans to the out of the box condition...

I have found the user directory...

Per instructions...

"Use the Help - About menu to find the userdirectory.  Exit the Netbeans
interface, delete from the user directory.  Restart Netbeans."

in previous post...

What shouldl I delete what from the user directory... I see a number of
folders there... non of which did I create.

If I delete them all, will netBeans put them back when I restart it?

thanks - tmb
