Problem installing ANT on Linux

Thread view:
sowbug - 02 Jan 2004 17:39 GMT
This is what I did:

PWD=/usr/src
tar -xzvf "apache1.6.tar.gz"
cd apache1.6
mkdir /opt/ant
cp * /opt/ant

All the enviornment vars are set correctly:
$JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_03
$ANT_HOME=/opt/ant
/opt/ant/bin is on the $PATH

When I try to run ant I just get this output:
org/apache/tools/ant/taskdefs/JAVA

I know this has got to be some sort of path problem, but anybody know
what's going on here?

What do you see when you type:

 $ which ant

Is there a real directory structure under /opt/ant?

I would have used:
  $ cp -r apache.ant.1.6 /opt
  $ mv /opt/apache.ant.1.6 /opt/ant

HIH

...richie

P.S. Can you post the entire output of your ant command?
