Netbeans 6.0.1 and SWT

Thread view:
CK - 08 Apr 2008 22:41 GMT
Hello everyone,

is it possible to add SWT components to the palettes of the GUI
builder in Netbeans 6.0.1 and if yes, how?

I tried adding the jar(s), but as far as I can see, the selection is
limited to class wrappers for win32 structs.

I could also add the component and the few methods by hand, but no,
the GUI builder makes the generated source code readonly, something I
could not turn off just yet.

Right-click on the pallette of components, then choose "Pallette
Manager". I had a hard time finding this a while ago aswell, as the
Pallette Manager isn't accessible through the regular Menus...

Hope this helps.

Ok, my lazy wording comes swinging back to me:

I tried adding the jars via Pallette Manager already, but the
selection that pops up is limited to class wrappers for win32 structs.
Now the wrappers are definitely needed, but certainly a MENUITEMINFO
struct is no common control, right? ;)

Correcting myself: Through the menu Tools->Palette->Swing/AWT Components
you get the same window.

Oh, you said SWT, not Swing. My mistake. After some searchengine use, I
think Netbeans doesn't support/like SWT.

You can use SWT:

Eclipse does support SWT components however. That might be the choice
for you, if you're stuck with SWT.

Here's a discussion on SWT vs. Swing, somewhat recent (2006)

You can find loads more if you search for "netbeans swt". Hope that
helps.

I am not directly stuck with SWT, but it offers certain controls I
would prefer.

Yes, it does, thank you very much!
