I know this question must get asked several times each week...

I'm new to java and JSP technology.  Are there free JSP servers?  What is
the best place for reference info. Software, books, web pages..

Much thanks in advance....

Then you should know to look in Google for the answers given previously.

Gezz Ray... thanks for the "tip"...
FYI, I did look at google and I did not find "answers given previously".
Not everyone is as clever as you.  But I did find several references to the
Apache Tom Cat server.  Is this the best one?  I don't know.. and I don't
expect you to tell me... Maybe someone with not as many issues as you could
tell me...

You'll get started easily here:
http://java.sun.com/products/jsp

Read the spec (no kidding) - it's not too formal and explains about
everything you'll want to know.  Get tomcat and look at the examples.

Paul,
I'm not sure if you found what you're looking for, but here are the
list of books I'm currently using.

Java Server Pages from Scratch by Que.
This book covers a lot of ground and teaches by developing a
working project.

Java How to Program by Deitel
Covers Object Oriented Design with UML and Design Patterns, JDBC,
Servlets and JSP, while teaching the Java Language.
