help with java,, newbie

Thread view:

hello, i am a newbie with java. i am working with netbeans 5.0 which came with
the jdk kit.. i am wanting to create either an application, or applet for my
website, if anyone has ever been to lowes.com and been on the deck designer,
this is kinda what i am working towards. only in a smaller form. but with
multiple pages like they have.. i know how i want it set up etc.. but not sure
where to start or how to start with it. what do i use to create the main java
applet and how do i succeed by adding the extra pages tothat. are they just
classes or ?      any help will be greatly appreciated, and you can visit the
webiste to see the design thx again in advance.. i am also wanting to further
my education on the java by learning how to do this. any walkthrus etc would be
greatly appreciated.  what do i need first   2nd  etc.. i'm just kinda at a
loss.. but i do understand the design concept in netbeans. i can build it like
i want it, but getting everything to work right,, like the buttons, email etc.
to go to the right place and how to link it.  i work in a metalsho with just me
and my boss. we do all kinds of metalworking.. copper, wrought iron. etc and
this is what i'm going to incorporate into it. design your own project.  but
doing it in a java applet. just getting started would really help alot. once i
get started with the basics from help, i think i can get along pretty good
after that.. i'm a really good and fast learner. not afraid to ask questions.
i've been working with comptuers and building etc from scratch, but never got
into the aspect of programming yet.. so now i want to work on that.. i can
network troubleshoot , set up networks etc. and troubleshoot and repair
systems.. so if anybody needs help let me know and i will get back in
contact.......for the help provided..

Just start with Fundamentals and take the lessons in the order given,
you'll get a pretty good practical grasp.
For theory in larger doses you can look at
