Eclipse Update Site Questions

Thread view:
eocene@gmail.com - 16 May 2006 15:41 GMT
I am sorry if I ham posting to the wrong group. I asked in eclipse
group but did not get any response. here is my question

I have created this update site. It works perfect. I want user to be
authenticated before they can view the available features and download
plugins. However, eclipse gives network error when I give the url that
requires login using a user id and password because, I think, it cannot

find site.xml. site.xml is inside the site but a login is required to
access the site.xml file. Is it possible to setup a update site like
this? Has anybody done anything like this. I will appreciate any tips,
tricks, and url suggestions. Thanks

I have no personal knowledge of the subject, but a google search turned
up this page which might be of assistance:

You didn't understand his question. He was asking about putting up his
own update site, but wanted some kind of authentication in order to see
the updates.

I can't seem to find any more information about the web-triggered
updates either. I don't know if that was an old feature now gone or was
part of Websphere.

According to this site:

erence/misc/update_sitemap.html
>

the Eclipse update manager is supposed to support http access with basic
authentication.

Unfortunately, I don't have any personal knowledge on the subject and am
only giving you google search results.

Sorry...and I do not have the answer either.

I DO THINK that the OP should be asking this in the correct newsgroup.
The OP should go to Eclipse's NNTP server at news.eclipse.org and ask at
least in the eclipse.newcomer newsgroup.

Since this is not a newcomer question and he has written code he should
know which group to ask the question. There are currently 56 newsgroups.

maybe eclipse.platform.rcp  or eclipse.platform.ercp

Thanks in Advance...

If you look at his original post he said that he did ask in the Eclipse
newsgroups and didn't get an answer.
