If you can do without comments then the build in versioning might help
you. Another downside is, that it keeps only so many versions. But you
can control the number and space it should take on disk.

I haven't really used Eclipse yet, let alone a version control system
with it, so I can't really answer whether things are "lightweight," easy
to use, or whatever. I would point out, though, that Subversion is
available for Eclipse. http://subclipse.tigris.org/ Subversion is
generally considered superior to CVS, which is what's built into
Eclipse. I don't know if the Subversion integration is superior to the
CVS integration, however. I will probably be finding out soon.
