I am not sure I understand where the problem is. Eclipse lets you delete the
project, without destroying the files behind it. Then you can simply burn
the project directory onto a CD, or back it up to a tape, or just move it to
a far corner of your hard disk - whatever.
When you need to restore the project, just put its directory back to the old
location, and use Import feature of Eclipse.
Have you tried it?

Actually, you are supposed to respond to the NG, rather than to the personal
e-mail, because other participants are entitled to learn the answers to
publicly asked questions. NOSPAM is used for a reason - should be
self-explanatory.
