Eclipse startup problem after updates

Thread view:
Neil Smith - 06 Mar 2005 19:01 GMT
After enabling the auto update facility I was getting frequent update
notifications. So I just selected the latest features from the available
list and installed them, without any problems. But now I get the "an error
occurred. See the log file" on startup. I suspect there is some conflict
with the installed features.
How do I recover the situation?
I see that a "install.log" files has been created and a "error-
recovery.log" files as well but how do you use these files to uninstall the
updates so that I can get back to a running system?
( I tried to find answers to this on eclipse.org but that site seems to be
just for developers of eclipse, not just users)

Renaming (or deleting) your .eclipse directory should fix it (at least, it
always does  for me). Unfortunately you  will then  need to re-update your
workspace settings to  those   you  prefer,  and recreate  your   projects
(although individual project settings should be preserved).
