XML mapping tool

Thread view:

I'm looking for an XML mapping tool that can be embedded in an
application. There are several mapping applications available e.g.
Altova's Mapforce. Ideally we'd like something that can be called from
within a Java application, supplying 2 XML files/schemas to be mapped,
then returns the generated XSLT code back to the application.
Does anyone know if such a tool exists?

Thanks.
Andrew.

Not sure if I got you right: do you want to map between two XML files using
XSLT? What's wrong then with an XSLT processor like e.g. Saxon or Xalan?
Can easily be embedded into Java applications, even J2EE (most J2EE servers
already provide a processor). We made pretty good experience with Sonic
Stylus Studio for building the required XSL documents.

Nah, I think he wants a tool that gets fed two XML files, then a mapping
can be defined interavtively and as a result you get a XSLT out, that does
the mapping so you can apply it to similar XML files (i.e with same schema
or DTD).

Okay, then maybe he should describe himself what he really wants ;-)
Nevertheless I think that he could achieve nearly everything he wants using
Sonic Stylus Studio (test version available). I haven't seen a better XSLT
mapper yet, though Studio has some other problems editing XML files.

Err, he *did* describe it (see above) - at least for me it was quite clear.
:)

Probably.

There was a posting in comp.lang.java.announce - maybe that helps:

[Java XML Mapper - Jamper]

In what respect (except probably price) does this differ from Sonic Stylus
Studio's approach which I originally proposed?

Well, price *can* make a significant difference.  I didn't look at this too
closely, just thought you might want to follow that hint.
