Spring framework ?

I saw NetBeans training of using Spring framework. It works, but still can't
figure out for what that framework has suppose to be.  On a
springframework.org  I found:
About Spring LDAP
Spring LDAP is a Java library for simplifying LDAP operations, based on the
pattern of Spring's JdbcTemplate.
...
next I found that LDAP is Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, but could
you
but
Could you be so kind to explain me the usage of a spring in a practice and
which are alternative packages, if they exist?

Out of curiosity, why on earth would you be interested in
alternatives to a technology you do not understand?

The only reason I can think of is that 'teacher wants to know'.

So that I don't have to ask the same question tomorow when I hear for some
other framework. I never be in touch with the J2EE (I learned  in a J2SE,
creating desktop app) so for me it is whole bunch of new terms. And after
all, my main question is practical example of the spring framework usage, so
my second question is not so important. But, no you don't have other job but
laughing to my NotSoDifficultQuestion, as I.suppose (I realy don't ask
anyone some details of tehnology for which I don't no if I need it).

Oh come on.  Now you're laughing at me.
(considers)  Fair call - I guess.     ;-)

I believe you'll get better initial answers to very general questions of
this sort by using Google (and maybe Wikipedia) than by using newsgroups.

http://www.google.com/search?q=java+spring+framework

You seem to have read the currently top news item from the spring web
page and assumed that it describes spring. It doesn't. You need to dig
deeper into that website.
