Thread view:

hi,
i have problem with getting my camera detected by JMFRegistry.
my camera :
Vimicro USB Camera LTI301P
the error message: Capture device query unsuccessful!

on the console there is:
DirectSound Capture Supported = false
JavaSound Capture Supported = true
JavaSoundAuto: Committed ok

and on my code :
Vector devices = CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(vidformat);
returns null;

any one have idea how to solve this?

thanx

You have to get the JMF Registry to detect the camera before you can get
your code to detect it.  Does your camera have video for windows
drivers?  As far as I know that is the only driver that can be used by JMF.

It probably doesn't have a driver that will work with Java.  Windows is
moving away from the VFW drivers to some other type.  The fact that JMF
has not been updated in several years only makes this situation worse.

don't you know how can i get the driver that is supported by java ?
where should i go? i just have the driver for the windows.

however, should i try to detect the camera uder Linux? will it be
different?

anoter thing i think i have to try : in the JMFRegistry i should be
able to add a new device. did you tried this before? do you know how to
do this?

thanx

Hit the Detect Capture Devices button, if that doesn't find it there
isn't a driver.  You will probably have to find another camera.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've been out of town.  You can
try the JMF email list.  As to the developers, Sun is not working on JMF
at all as far as I know.  I guess you could file a bug report but I
don't know how effective that would be.
