Runtime

Thread view:

Hi everyone,

             I find something very odd.
When i use the runtime class to run javac in 1.4.2 the console window does
open but when i do the same in 1.5 the console window appears.

Why is this so. Am i missing something?

Yours Sincerely

So,

1.4.2: the console window does open
1.5:   the console window appears

A question which makes more sense?

/Thomas

PS: If you wanted to ask what I think you wanted to ask, then the answer
is "Because Sun felt like changing it." Console window behavior has
changed again and again in Java, mostly due to bug reports and Sun not
being able to come up or stick to a plan.

If you feel like it, you can search Sun's bugparade. Anyhow a good idea
before asking such questions.

Let us say he had done so, solved his problem and told no one about
his findings. Are we as a community worse or better off?  Now that
traffic has dwindled to a dull roar, I think people should err on the
side of sharing their problems and solutions.
