tools.jar

Thread view:
KAR120C - 05 Feb 2006 20:33 GMT
I just downloaded and installed the latet version of J2SE on my XP system but
was unable to open the tools.jar file.  I get a message box that says "Failed
to load Main-Class manifest attribute ..."  How can I fix this?

That means the tools.jar file is not an executable jar.  You should
therefor not try to run it.  If you want, you can open it and see what's
inside.  This can be done by renaming it to tools.zip, or use a
decompression program that can open it directly (eg winrar).

Or just putting a shortcut to WinZip into your "Send To" folder in your
settings directory so that you can right click on jar files and send
them to winzip!

If you just want a raw list of names inside it use Jarlook. See
http://mindprod.com/products1.html#JARLOOK

You can use WinZip on it directly. Just don't change anything.
