Tomcat (J2EE Web)

Thread view:
www.douglassdavis.com - 10 Aug 2005 12:21 GMT
I am using Windows XP, j2sdk1.4.2_05, Tomcat 5.5.10.

When I try to start the Tomcat service on port 8080 I get a message

Service Manager is attempting to start the following service... "Apache
Tomcat"  Then the message dissapears and the service does not start.
Also, when I try to go in the configuration, and change the service to
start automatically, when i press ok, nothing changes.

There is nothing in the Apache error log.

Wow thanks, what an idiots at SUN. Are there any statistics on what
percentage of internet users actually have a Java Virtual Machine ? I
would expect not many people would be able to understand any of this
without going on a 2 week training. Especially since Windows doesn't
come with a Java Virtual Machine anymore.

you don't need to install Java 5 (1.5.0). Just get the compatibility
pack from the Jakarta-Tomcat download site and unpack it into your
Tomcat installation directory. That's all.
