what am I missing here..  I need to dl a jabber client, has to be an
applet that runs on browsers.. the few that I have downloaded all they
consist of is one jar file..  how do you "run" a jar file.. applets have
to be embedded in an HTML file to run on browsers..  I view contents of
jar file, there are tons of classes in there...  and where do I put HTML
file?  in little applets I have written myself class is in same dir
where HTML file is..  but here, it's jars, not individual classes...
so..  how do I run these, please.. do I have to unzip jar file and put
HTML file in same dir where all the classes are..  would appreciate some
 help..  thank you.. Frances

See the "archive" attribute of the applet (or object) tag.
