Want to use MS classes with Sun compiler

Thread view:
David Yan - 16 Mar 2004 14:26 GMT
I need to use MS OLAP services (Analysis Services) and third-party dlls
with my code. With VJ++, MS provides interfaces and tools for generating
interfaces into dlls to use with their own compiler directives ( /**
@dll... or @com... */ ).

Can anyone please tell me how I can do this with a non-MS compiler? I am
currently using Netbeans. I have had a look at the Jacob Project and a
few others but they don't provide for my needs - not for Analysis
Services or these third-party dlls.

Any pointers as to what I should do?

Many thanks.

Tough sh.t. They are not Java and Java never worked with them.

On the other hand - you might want to have a fiddle with JNI to see if
that can link up with them in a properly compatible way.

Quite.  That relies upon the very obsolete,
broken and _insecure_ MS 1.1VM.  This VM
included many classes written by MS specifically
to interact with MS.

Sun took legal action, Sun won.
That VM is no longer available.

[ I would suggest you rethink your basic approach ]
