can data transmitted on SSL pipe be modified ?

Hi,

I am planning to use HTTP(S) (it uses SSL right?) for communication
between browser and the Servlet.  Can some one in the middle (hacker)
modify the data when it is transmitted on the network ? If modified,
will SSL be able to detect that ?

Thanks for any help,

Vissu

Of course he/she can. Therefore SSL uses a MAC to ensure the
authenticiy and integrity of its records.

YES (see above).
