Eclipse : Why Red Cross Error Indicator is Missing?

My .java files have errors but the red cross indicator is missing.
How do I configure the tool to reflect that.

I don't know about the specific problem that you have. My general
experience of Eclipse is just not very good. I have been very happy to
use Netbeans instead.

You might be more lucky asking in the Eclipse newsgroups:
www.eclipse.org/news.  I recommend eclipse.newcomer.
