Eclipse is extremely slow when installing plugins while disconnected

Thread view:
chrism778@gmail.com - 19 Apr 2007 14:27 GMT
The machine I'm working on is disconnected from the Internet.
Whenever I try to install a plugin using "Find and Install", it is
*extremely* slow.  Each step in the process takes about 5 minutes.  I
assume Eclipse is trying to connect to the Internet and making me wait
for it to discover it can't.  Is there a way to tell Eclipse "The
Internet is not available, so don't bother looking"?  Or is there
another reason installing plugins is so slow on my machine?

Thanks.

Sub: Eclipse is extremely slow..

I suggest asking the Eclipse experts*.
<http://www.eclipse.org/newsgroups/>

* AKA - those who care how fast/slow the IDE is.

We can't help you with that.  People respond or they don't at their will and
their pace.  Posting to an irrelevant newsgroup won't speed up the relevant one.

If you don't believe it, try posting your question to alt.fan.sanjaya.  The
eclipse newsgroup will continue not to notice.

Strictly speaking they both are.  You get your answer within 48 hours, or it's
free.

Modulo the amortized cost of internet access to your ISP.
