Modial JDialog not working in Vista

Thread view:

Hi,

We build our app with JDK 1.6. The logon is the first screen that the
user sees. Currently the logon screen extends jDialog.

When I start the app on Vista with other dialogs in the foreground,
Windows Explorer for example, the Java jDialog remains in the
background. Even if no other dialogs are covering the logon screen it
doesn't really have the focus since typing doesn't work until the
dialog is clicked on.

I have tried making the dialog modal and also using the toFront()
method, all to no avail. This works fine on XP and earlier Windows
operating systems.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Elliot

Change the dot to a comma, in line 254  (column 34)
of your source code.  If that fails, I suggest..
Post an SSCCE.

Andrew,

Thanks for the SSCCE link and the dry sense of humor. I'm still
looking for line 254. The SSCCE will be the next step if no-one comes
up with a quicker solution here. Of course I would rather avoid the
work of creating a small working example from a large complex
application.

Thanks

Probably in much the same way *we* would prefer
to 'avoid the work' in offering to help someone, but
it will be interesting to see how successful your
strategy is.

* As an aside, the SSCCE document has a lot
more of that dry sense of humor, as well as a lot
of useful advice.  Something tells me you had not
actually *read* it yet, I recommend that you do.
