Opportunity for a Senior JAVA developer to be part of an exciting team to digitize our nation's historic news print and provide to the public for free searchable, online access. Great opportunity to learn and work with new open source J2EE technologies and web services. Will consider candidate request for telecommute arrangement based on project schedule and requirements. This is a long term project expected to last 20 years and will give the candidate a chance to work with top-notch J2EE talents. The ideal candidate will have:

· A Bachelors Degree, preferably in Computer Science or another related discipline
· Must have software skills: 2+ years Java /J2EE, JDBC, SQL Database, Open Source Tools
· Nice to have software skills: XML, XSLT, CSS, HTML, Javascript, AJAX, Cocoon, and JSON
· Experience with Operating Systems: UNIX, Linux, Apache, and Tomcat
· Ability to work independently and interact with clients
· Strong problem solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications for systems development
· Experience generating and maintaining systems documentation.
· U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident
