You don't seem to have a Java section...

Aren't there already a number of sites and wikis containing Java
snippets?

Wouldn't it be better to build up the existing snippet sites and wikis
- or even unify them into a single repository - so that we could all
find the snippets in one standard place, rather than opening yet
another snippet site?

I like the idea of "one stop shopping" with respect to snippets rather
than having to (metaphorically) "walk all over town visiting all the
snippet stores" to find the one I want.

Of course, snippets need to be correctly categorized and annotated to
be really useful so some standards that assured that each snippet works
would also be valuable. Or, if they are for specific older versions of
Java and have been superseded by better techniques and idioms in later
versions of Java, that should be noted too.

The discoverers of the techniques and idioms should still be
recognized, of course. I've found Real Gagnon's snippets very helpful
in the past, for example. There is no reason that he and other
contributors of these snippets can't be recognized.

Simply creating yet another snippet site seems counter-productive to
me.

Just my two cents worth....
