There is a section of the Sun site that lists Java user groups. Go to
http://developers.sun.com/jugs/display/worldwide.jsp, then find United
States and click on Texas; all of the cities in Texas which has Java User
Groups will be displayed. If you click on the individual city, the group(s)
for that city will be listed, with URLs and/or email addresses for contact
people. If you contact those groups, they ought to know about Java events in
their area.

Also, if you go to this page - http://java.sun.com/jugs/news.html - you'll
see a list of upcoming events around the world. Some of them may be in
Texas.
