Updating Java

I am currently using J2SE 1.5.0 original version and would like to update to
J2SE 1.5.0 Update 6. I thought the correct way to do that was to launch the
Java Control Panel, go to the Update tab, and then click the Update button;
at that point, I expected to see a download start and be able to control
where the download was stored.

But when I click the Update button, nothing happens, aside from a very brief
spin on the hourglass. No download begins, no new dialogs appear, nothing.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I've never tried that per se, but it certainly isn't going to update
your JDK. It will probably only update the copy of the JRE installed
into the "Program Files" directory or equivalent for your Windows
install. To get the latest JDK (and bundled JRE), you'll need to
download them yourself.
