problem with Java? newbie

Thread view:
SJ - 26 Nov 2005 16:08 GMT
I think I'm having problems with my Java.  I am constantly getting a message
that I "need to install Java Virtual Machine" when I attempt to open certain
files or do something.  I also cannot entirely delete my Java runtime
enviroment.  I would like to just reinstall Java.  How could I do this with
my limited knowledge of it?
Thanks

SJ,

I don't think your problem is related to programming.  Whenever you have
a question you should include details about your computer, what
operating system it uses, what version of Java you are using.

The terms 'certain files' and do something give the indication that you
want a solution but you don't want to invest the time in describing your
problem properly.

Martin

Martin.... do you see the term "newbie" in the post?  That usually means the
person doesn't have the foggiest idea what their dealing with when asking a
question.  I would love to give you all the specs of my computer and
operating system and what not, but really didn't know it was relavent in
finding a solution.  Another newsgroup has answered my question already.  I
also have no idea how you can tell that I don't want to invest any time in
finding a solution to the problem.  If something isn't working, who do you
ask...... the experts like you,.......right.
LOL
Scott.

Information about os and other technical stuff is often important.
Knowledge about install/uninstall in control panel, which is the answer
you are so excited about I suppose, doesn't really take you that far...

For one thing, it'd be of help to learn how to ask questions. I bet the
next "solution" you'll get from your control-panel guru is to reboot
your computer ... regardless of what your problem is ...

Also learing to quote would help a lot ...

Have fun.
