No, you have a serious attitude problem.

It has nothing to do with our knowledge vs your knowledge.

A forum is not meant to replace a book/tutorial/faq.

You refuse to even adjust your posting style to conform with the group.

If I had to guess I'd say you are probably a spoiled little rich kid
a.shole.   The world will not bend over for you, and I guarantee a usenet
forum will even less.

You thanklessness and arrogance make no one WANT to help you.

I said nothing to suggest I think I am superior to you.
I did not sh.t on you.
I am not a fag.
I am not going to answer.
I am not going away.

PS. right now, I am convinced I am superior in at least language, social
skills and java.

IIRC I posted a link to a google search whose top hit was the answer to his
question.  He proceeded to sh.t on me.  Everything else was defensive :)

He should be a little slower to call people "fags" since the only person who
did actually try to help him, is of the homosexual orientation.

And since you mentioned it, got me curious, caused me
to actually (freakin') Google that, only to come to the
'next entry down' ( got me! ;).

Roedy, the next point after that one..

"I've been coding in Java now for since 1993 (I was on the AWT design
team), but this really has me stumped."

Slight grammatical correction (suggestion)

And while he is at it, he might also change "me" to "be" in "somehow me more
logical" in the Primate Psychology section.

You will find a lot of those, also that/than, my/by.  It comes from
the layout of the DSK keyboard and the fact a spell checker can't
catch the typos.

I was going to suggest to you that you will need to change your signature,
since there will be no help coming to your from this group.

But the personality will stay, so don't bother changing anything. Ignorance
can be forgiven, arrogance can't.

He signs his posts "Jack" (the "from" field). He asked a non-specific
question abour J2EE ("what is..."). After being pointed to Google as the
resource, he insulted the respondents:

"nah someone will do it

"since I joined this new, the is those morons playing the police rules. go

Apparently he expects to find babysitters on this NG, doing his homework for
him. Is your carrier missing posts from this thread?

That's a good start, this has some information too:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J2EE

but... to tell the truth I'm sort of curious too.  "J2EE" seems to be in
the midst of a mind-boggling crossfire of alphabet soup (Jblah, Jfoo,
JBEE, JBOP, etc...) and marketing aimed at management (manage enterprise
resource component frameworks!) that effectively does make it harder to
get real information about it from just googling.  It's one of those
things where a real person describing it in "no bullshit" terms is very
valuable.

Cheers,

There an advantage to giving things alphabet soup names. You can at
least google for them. Try to find out something about "linguine". It
is some Java package. I have not a clue what it does.

Further try to think about "linguine" without getting emotionally
sidetracked with reminiscences about great Italian meals.

I found myself resenting using a package called Jenna2 even though the
author assured me it was named after his daughter not after Bush's
besotted daughter.

Please stop messing with my head creating all these irrelevant
associations!

The point was not particularly about the nature of the names, it's just
that there are so many of them that the system as a whole is poorly
described by listing its components.  If I don't know what J2EE is, am I
likely to know about most of its components?

In other words - how would you describe it to someone who's curious
about *what it does*, but who doesn't know what Jammies, Jeevies,
Jibber, Jabber, Jumpnjive and JEEWIZ are.

A colleague of mine on the Rivet project decided to name a database
layer he created, 'DIO' - that one was hard to explain to people here!

I don't reminisce about them, but eat them regularly:-)

JavaMail is one component that you could use in the J2SE application. JDBC
was, for a long time, listed as an "officially" J2EE component, made
available under J2SE. XML parsers can be used without any reference (or
relation) to the rest of J2EE.

> In other words - how would you describe it to someone who's curious

You could list the most frequently used frameworks and libraries that are
part of J2EE (Servlets, EJB, JMS, JavaMail, XML parsers) and let them do
another search on Google. Better yet, there is a pretty decent tutorial by
Sun (http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/tutorial/doc/) that was written
specifically for the purpose of answering the sacramental question of "what
is..."

It still boils down to the poster's attitude. An arrogant a**hole like the
OP will not be bothered with it, but will fully expect the others to give
him a regurgitated digest.
