Making lists visible

Thread view:
Spudgun - 16 Sep 2005 14:01 GMT
I've got a list in my program and I'e written code to add a string to it.
However I can't see it on the GUI that I've designed. Is there a step I'm
missing or need to do to make each string visible?

Your problem description is vague. Can you post an SSCCE?

generally these components are pretty good about automatically
repainting in such circumstances.

You can try adding a manual repaint after your add.  There are many
things to check.  That is why we keep asking for SCCSSEs. See
http://mindprod.com/jgloss/sccsse.html.

1. is the List visible?
2. have you clogged the Swing edt thread so it can't get around to the
repaint.
3. did you do the add with a thread other than the Swing thread.
4. do you have the right kind of List.

I've seen this a few times--Don't make this mistake:

Dwight: "This thing is wildly available."
Smedly: "Did you mean wildly, or /widely/ ?"
Dwight: "Both!", said while nodding emphatically.

Dwight was exposed to have made a grammatical
error and tries to cover it up by thinking
fast.  This is so painfully obvious that he
only succeeds in looking worse.

argh. That what comes from using acronyms whose original meaning you
forget instead of short words.

It is http://mindprod.com/jgloss/scce.html

self contained compilable example.

I think the rest of the world calls these "snippets".
