missing system properties

System properties "user.region" and "user.timezone" have been quietly
dropped from the documentation and the system properties list.

Any word on why?

That was a long time ago. They were part of 1.1 and gone with 1.2.

Probably because the Locale and TimeZone classes provide more information?
