Newbie question: Any good resources on Java programming?

Thread view:

Hi everyone

I'm a newbie to the world of Java programming.
I'm especially interested in Java internet programming and
Java database programming.

Can anyone recommend some good books or websites
about the topic?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

If you're completely new to Java, you might want to look at this:

http://www.mindprod.com/jgloss/gettingstarted.html

If you already know that, the tutorials on http://java.sun.com are quite
good (there's one for JDBC (database access) and some on servlets and the
like, I think).
