Checking web pages written in Javascript

Thread view:
Joe Colella - 18 Dec 2006 22:18 GMT
I would like to check a web page for updates that is written
in JavaScript and requires me to log on with a username and
password, then email me a snapshot of the web page or a
copy of the web page.

Is there any software out there will let me do this?

Best regards,

Joe Colella

Would you like us to post the answers to all five
of the gorups to which you have thus far multi-posted,
or are you so busy multi-posting that you'd just
prefer us to summarise the details and drop them
to you it in a personal email?

(X-post to comp.lang.java.advocacy, comp.lang.java.databases,
comp.lang.java.gui, comp.lang.java.help, comp.lang.javascript,
w/ f-u to c.l.j.h. only)

Andrew,
Obviously the sole purpose of your reply was to bust
my chops.
Was your statement, "w/ f-u to c.l.j.h. only" an
edict to your serfs or were you trying to appear
benevolent while in actuality offering no assistance?
Joe

From my point of view, the primary purpose of Andrew's post was to
discourage multiposting. (Whether or not it's effective towards that goal is
an entirely different matter). Don't take it personally, Andrew does this to
a lot multiposters.

Also, attitude aside, Andrew's comment enfolds a nugget of useful advice.

Multi-posting is discouraged (by most Usenet folk, not just Andrew) because it
corrupts the discourse. Multi-posting makes threads harder to follow and
answers harder to get. It also annoys people who are trying to help, because
they stumble across the same thread elsewhere and their own answer is no
longer there. Why take the time to help when someone is asking everyone else
anyway?

Consequently, multi-posting harms the querent. Answers are scattered, and
knowledgeable people with motivation to help are discouraged from working with
you.

Cross-posting eliminates all those harmful effects whilst still reaching the
interest range you wish to engage.

Andrew's comments are merely mordant summary of the above.

Lew,
Oliver's observation was on target and your message was very effective.
Thanks!
Joe
