table with vertical header

HI,
Is it possible to display the header vertically, i.e. on the left side
we'll have the table header as a single column and each row displays
the data for a particular column.

I think what you want to look at is the setRowHeaderView() method in
JScrollPane.  That will allow you to put 2 JTables together so that the
first column is fixed and acts as a row header.
