Hmmmm.......I did an "eclipse -clean" and I get these on startup:
Error 2005-08-31 12:07:04.09 Could not install bundle plugins/org.eclipse.ve_1.1.0/ Bundle "org.eclipse.ve" version "1.1.0" has already been installed from: update@../../Program Files/MyEclipse/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.ve_1.1.0/
Error 2005-08-30 14:11:37.961 Could not install bundle plugins/com.ibm.etools.emf.event_3.0.0.1/ Bundle "com.ibm.etools.emf.event" version "3.0.0.1" has already been installed from: update@../../Program Files/MyEclipse/eclipse/plugins/com.ibm.etools.emf.event_3.0.0.1/
Error 2005-08-30 14:11:37.992 Could not install bundle plugins/org.eclipse.ve.doc_1.1.0/ Bundle "org.eclipse.ve.doc" version "1.1.0" has already been installed from: update@../../Program Files/MyEclipse/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.ve.doc_1.1.0/
These seems fairly innocuous though as they merely imply the correct code was already there. What seems more serious, is the following, which I get when opening a visual class:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at org.eclipse.ve.internal.java.codegen.java.rules.DefaultVisitorFactoryRule.retrieveFromCache(DefaultVisitorFactoryRule.java:83)

at org.eclipse.ve.internal.java.codegen.editorpart.JavaVisualEditorPart$Setup.run(JavaVisualEditorPart.java:1881)
at org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.Worker.run(Worker.java:76)
Does this shed any light on the issue?

There's obviously a problem, but I haven't got a clue what might be the
cause of it.
You may get better support from the newsgroup 'eclipse.tools.ve' at
Eclipse's own newsserver (news.eclipse.org).
You'll have to request a password to be able to access it. See
<http://www.eclipse.org/newsgroups/index.html> (follow link "Request
Password").
