splitPane.addComponentListener

splitPane.addComponentListener(new ComponentAdapter() {
    public void componentShown(ComponentEvent evt) {
        System.out.println("This won't get printed");
    }
});

but

containerThatHasTheSplitPane.addComponentListener(new ComponentAdapter() {
    public void componentShown(ComponentEvent evt) {
        System.out.println("This get printed");
    }
});

Any possible reason?
