jtable highlight between rows

jdk1.4.2/wink2k

i have just finshed working out how drag and drop works on jtable
what i would like to do is have the jtable that is a drop target highlight
the grid between two rows in bold as i drag the mouse over it

can someone give me some ideas where to start

implements ur own TableCellRenderer and register it.
take a look at DefaultTableCellRenderer.
