need a good IDE

Running Windows 98 SE and Debian GNU Linux (unstable release) with
2.4.18 kernel.

1) How do I install Java on each platform?

2) What are good IDE for each platform?

First, read <URL: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html>.

Then, read the instructions that come with the JDK for the
platform. JDKs for both your platforms are available from <URL:
http://java.sun.com>.

Eclipse <URL: http://www.eclipse.org>.

Finally, Google <URL: http://www.google.com> is your friend. Unless
you've annoyed it in some way.

For Windows - get non-98
For Linux - get non-unstable release
