Gradient fill with one color provided

Thread view:
cybernerdsx2@yahoo.com - 03 Feb 2005 01:30 GMT
Hi,

I would like the user to select only one color and my codes should
devise the selected color to break it into 2 colors, one being lighter
than the other so that I can create a gradient fill.
How can I go about doing that?

You can try using the brighter() and darker() methods of the Color class.
You will want to check the results with a number of colors - when the
color is already pretty light, brighter() will sometimes return white.  If
those methods do not quite do what you want, you can get the RGB or HSB
values for the color and manipulate them yourself.
